another go-round

so another year has come and gone. it causes untold wonder to think how many things can change in a year ... i tend to measure years according to academia, especially since i'm still here. this year has brought not one but two really amazing phenomenons. the greater, of course, is my most wonderful, who in approximately 8 1/2 months will be my husband. the second phenomenon, while lesser than the first, is not much less of an accomplishment. i have stayed in the SAME PLACE for a whole year! not only have i kept the same address, i've even stayed in the same room. wonders will never cease, it seems.
i'm only taking two classes this fall, since i'm hoping to take comps in december. that will leave just my thesis and language test for spring, before i get married. i'm sad at the prospect of leaving again. since ryan and i both want me to get my PhD, i'm hoping it will happen at some point. i'm looking forward to writing my thesis, too. it's a good thing.
i have been reading The Pound Era, a book on Ezra Pound which is causing myriads of objections and clarifications about such things as reducing poetry, and reality, to the lowest common denominator. for one thing, reality is a hierarchy. for another, we do NOT have a reductionist God! but more on that later, hopefully. we are right now trying to work on establishing an internet connection at the Four Elements, who are currently just Three. until then ...
